About Me

My name is Mwihaki John. I study Tree Ferns and other early-diverging plants that have shaped the story of life on land. My work brings together field observations, historical records, and ecological data to understand how these plants survive, adapt, and persist in our changing world.

I am especially interested in the relationship between ferns and forest ecosystems—how they respond to disturbances, interact with other species, and what their patterns tell us about evolution and resilience. I spend time in the field collecting samples, working with local researchers, and documenting what I see and learn.

This space is where I share field notes, ongoing projects, and reflections on what it means to study plants that predate flowers and seeds. Whether you are here to learn, collaborate, or just browse, thank you for stopping by.
